  • Tuesday
  • Wednesday: Shepard's of Good Hope Dress Down Day
  • Thursday: Rag and Bone Puppet Theatre 10:10 Primary and 12:25 Junior

It was great to see so many teachers out front together showing their support for education this morning. I had a few positive comments from parents and I heard some cars giving some supportive beeps! I know this will be a difficult week and we all hope that this gets settled soon.

There is not too much going on this week. We have a dress down day mid-week and some opportunities for students on Thursday and Friday.

Here is that School Council Reimbursement Form again just in case you are looking for it. It is also in Hapara but I thought I would post it again.

Weekly Post: Dec. 16 - 20

Here is how the week is looking:
  • Monday: Advent Liturgy
  • Tuesday: Christmas Concert Rehearsal - 2nd and 4th Block, School Council
  • Wednesday:
  • Thursday: Christmas Concert Day - 9 AM Surnames A - M and 12:30 PM Surnames N - Z.
  • Friday: Last Day of School
We made it to the last week before the Break! This week is going to be an exciting week for many reasons and I hope you have fun with your students and classes.

Great job to the Gr. 6 Team and Joanne with your student leadership last week with the White Elephant Sale and the Hour of Code. We were all very impressed with the leadership and collaborative skills that your students shared with us last week. We also cannot forget Tina and her Gr. 5 students that got the CHOOO CHOOO Train up and going. Through your leadership, there will be many thankful people receiving our school communities gifts this Christmas. The train has left the station and it was loaded down!

Movie reminder: If you are going to be showing a movie for your class, please make sure that you are using Lear 360 from the staff portal. Since the school board is being audited this year it may not be a good idea to be showing Netflix in class. You may have a parent in your class who is a copyright lawyer. This has happened. Trust me ......

Remember to wear your Advent colours on Monday!

Enjoy the last week everyone.

Here is how the week is looking:
This week is Coding Week. This is a great opportunity to give coding a shot with your students. Sometimes coding seems a little overwhelming but there are so many entry points that pretty much any student can pick it up very quickly. I know that Joanne's class is going to be coming around working with Primary classes. Thanks, Joanne! If you are looking for another resource that can be used in your classroom, check out the Hour of Code Website. We also have coding workshops for the Gr. 4 and 5 students in the Learning Commons on Thursday.

On Tuesday we have our December Staff Meeting. If you have any items for the agenda, please send them my way as soon as you think of them.

Friday is our White Elephant Sale. If you are looking for something to do this weekend why not take a look around and see if you have any items that can be donated to our sale. I know the Gr. 6 students are looking for more items to add variety to their sale.

  • Monday: Remembrance Day, Kindergarten Initial Reports go Home
  • Tuesday: Staff Meeting, Volleyball Tournament
  • Wednesday: OECD Testing in the LC at 8:45 AM
  • Thursday: Interview Night, Picture Retake Day
  • Friday: PD Day
I am trying another blog format. Hopefully, this one will not encourage you to work from home.

This is always a busy week with interviews and a PD Day on Friday. Our Kinder Team and FSL teachers should now know where you will have your PD on Friday. For the rest of the staff, we will be meeting at the d'Youville Centre at 9 AM on Friday at 150 Mann Ave.

Remembrance Day: We have our ceremony on Monday. It starts at 10:30 AM sharp. Students will be coming around selling poppies first block. It may be a good idea to have the funds collected to give the students as they arrive. Just let them know how many poppies you need and they can count them out quickly.

Interview Night: We will start at 3:10 and go until 7PM.  Homeroom teachers will conduct the interviews in their classrooms. French teachers and portable teachers will be in the Learning Commons. We will have dinner in the staffroom at 5PM. It will be provided. If you have any dietary restrictions, please let me know.

We do have a staff meeting this Tuesday. If you have any items for the agenda, please send them my way.
